Born in Minhou, Fujian Province
, Qiu grew up in Shānyīn Village, Shaoxing

in . Qiu was killed at 32 after the Xu Gao-led uprising failed in front of a school.
Qiu is now buried beside Xi Lake in Hangzhou, the People's Republic of China established a museum for her in Shaoxing City.
